The time has come to replace some of our many battered old bird nest boxes around the Denmark Farm site. We once had around 100 boxes of different designs to suit a variety of birds. Sadly now only half of these are still intact and we are hoping to replace a few on Sunday.
Local birder Ian Morris will lead this activity. We will be inspecting bird boxes to see if we can identify which species have been using it and then cleaning them all out for the next season of nesters. Finally we will be installing some new boxes in favourable locations.
If you prefer a green fingered activity Mara will be onsite with a lovely selection of spring bulbs to be planted around the courtyard and wildlife garden. These will add a welcome splash of colour and scent plus nectar for pollinators early in the season.
Please join us for as much time as you can spare. No experience is necessary, full guidance will be given for all tasks, and all tools and materials provided.
We will be offering plenty of tea and cake, but please bring your lunch, also bring wellies and waterproofs.
Lots of other great volunteering opportunities coming up soon.
