Growing Success at Denmark Farm

Now that Spring has  finally arrived, we have an exciting season of plant themed workshops at Denmark Farm Conservation Centre.

So if you are a budding plantaphile and want to get your hands dirty you still have time to join us. But do book soon as places are limited and filling up fast.

Field Survey Techniques  27th-29th April

Essential skills for baseline ecological studies and for planning management and monitoring of sites or habitats. Led by ecologist and plants woman Jan Martin.

Aberystwyth University (SELL) course. Fee: £90

Natural Gardening  27th April, 4th & 12th May – 2 PLACES LEFT

This is a new short 3-part course for anyone interested in growing their own food in a sustainable way. It is suitable for beginners and also experienced gardeners looking to deepen their understanding of natural processes. With Malcolm Berry (teacher and gardener – previously with National Botanical Garden of Wales)

Fee: £45 for all  3 workshops or £20 per individual workshop

Willow Sculpture   29th/30th April & 14th/15th May – BOOK BY TOMORROW 12th April as materials need to be ordered.

A course to learn the exciting and versatile craft of weaving willow. Apply the simple technique to make sculpture for home and garden with artist Judy Macklin.

Aberystwyth University (SELL) course Fee: £90 / £20 fee waiver

Homegrown Herbal Lotions and Creams  4th May – 3 PLACES LEFT

Spend a day learning how to make herbal ointments and creams with local Medical Herbalist, Christine Stephenson.

Fee: £40 (includes materials for several pots you can take home) Book by 19th April for Early Bird Discount

Wool Dyeing with Natural Dyes  11th-12th May – 4 PLACES LEFT

In this two-day workshop you will be dyeing wool with plants that are easy to find in the great outdoors, many of them may even be growing in your garden. Led by keen dyer, spinner and weaver Hanne Dahl.

Fee: £70 (includes all materials) Book by 26th for Early Bird Discount

If you live further afield then we can offer you a range of accommodation, from our self-catering Eco Lodge to our shared dormitories and Eco Campsite, to turn a workshop into an enjoyable few days away.
