All the techniques you need for dyeing wool with plants you can easily find growing wild or in your garden.
Tutor: Hanne Dahl www.dahlia.me.uk
In this two day workshop you will be dyeing wool with plants that are easy to find in the great outdoors, many of them may even be growing in your garden. The course will cover all you need to know to start dyeing yarn yourself at home; from collecting and preparing dye plants, light and wash fastness of natural dyes, the dyeing process, to tips for creating colour variations. We will also be looking at the history of natural dyes and ways of using the dyed wool in craft projects. During the course you will create a colour sampler to take home and receive a booklet about the dye processes covered during the course. The course is suitable for beginners to wool dyeing and for more experienced dyers who would like to move from synthetic to natural dyes. All materials will be supplied – just wear suitable clothing that you don’t mind getting stained.
Fee: £75 (£65 if you book early*) & £5 for materials.
