Denmark Farm

Would you like to join the Denmark Farm Team?

We are currently looking for new Trustees for our charity The Shared Earth Trust.

As a trustee you’ll be dedicating your skills, knowledge, time and energy into making sure the charity and the way it’s governed are suitable and fit for purpose, and helping us set our strategy for the future.

Nature conservation is at our core. Our charitable aims are two-fold: to promote the protection, conservation and restoration of flora and fauna and their habitats, and advance the education of the public. Our strapline is ‘Connecting People with Nature’.

This is a voluntary role. We meet up to 10 times a year, usually at Denmark Farm but sometimes on-line. In between these meetings we take collective decisions on any urgent matters, usually by email. Individual trustees also take responsibility for a specific area of work relating to their skills and experience.

We currently have 6 trustees – you can meet them here.

Anyone can be a charity trustee whether you’re in paid employment or not, regardless of your ethnicity, class, gender orientation, sexuality or any other difference. We are particularly looking for professional skills in the areas of legal, financial, business, health and safety, marketing and tourism. We are also keen to recruit young people, and minority groups e.g. disabled.

There are many reasons to become a charity trustee at Denmark Farm. If you’re retired, you may want to continue using your skills and experience to help our charity. Alternatively, you may want to contribute your own experience as a conservation volunteer while developing your own skills – for example leadership, teamwork, communication skills, decision making.

It’s a great way to boost your CV, grow your network, and learn about governance and how the charity sector works. It can be challenging at times, but is also rewarding.

In a recent poll, 96% of trustees said they had learned new skills as a result of being a trustee. 84% of trustees said that being a trustee makes them happier!
