Conservation Volunteer Days – no experience needed!
Our Conservation Volunteers help us to maintain the varied habitats and rich biodiversity within the 40-acre nature reserve at Denmark Farm Conservation Centre, while learning about wildlife and habitat management, and practical outdoor skills.
So why not join us on one of our volunteer days, where you will meet like-minded people, learn new skills and make a positive difference for wildlife.
Tasks vary according to season and may include woodland management, clearing brambles, pruning shrubs & trees, checking bird and dormouse boxes for damage, maintaining paths & boardwalks – and various other jobs around the 40 acre site. All our volunteering days are supervised by an experienced Activity Leader.
Volunteer days tend to start at 10am and finish around 3pm, depending on season, though you are welcome to join us for half a day.
Don’t worry if you haven’t any previous experience as we’ll provide all the guidance and tools you need.
Please bring outdoor clothing and packed lunch. Drinks and biscuits are provided.
Support conservation, learn about wildlife, get active, enjoy some fresh air, meet new friends…
Benefits for our volunteers
We like to give back to our volunteers as they are key for managing Denmark Farm for wildlife, so throughout the year we offer volunteer training days, depending on funding and the season.
You could learn about tree identification through the seasons, plant identification, tool sharpening, coppicing skills, identification and monitoring of bumblebees, dragonflies, birds, bats, amphibians & reptiles, etc.
