Our Ecolodge was built in 2013 and is an eco-friendly holiday home in the heart of the 40 acre-nature reserve at Denmark Farm.
Here’s what makes it unique…

Sustainable timber
The building itself is built from sustainably sourced timber, with wool insulation, finished inside with eco Farrow and Ball paints.

Sedum Roof
The living sedum roof changes with the seasons and provides a wonderful habitat for insects and self-seeded wildflowers and grasses.

Solar Powered
All the energy used to power the Ecolodge is renewable, with our electricity coming from the solar panels on the main buildings.

Biomass Heating
Central heating and hot water from our biomass system runs on grade A+ wood pellets manufactured by the only UK grown, guaranteed sustainably sourced supplier.
Water sustainability
All the grey water from the Ecolodge runs down to Barn Field where it is then filtered in the Wetland Ecosystem Treatment (WET) System by our willow coppice, returning ultimately to the lake and the streams that run around Denmark Farm.
We regularly use the willow grown here for our basketry courses and to teach willow coppicing skills.

Non-toxic cleaning
Because of the WET system, we use only non-toxic cleaning products and laundry detergents; an ethic we ask all guests and visitors to continue with during their stay,

Plastic-free refills
We re-use containers and do not have any single-use plastic, so all hand soap, washing up liquid, cleaning products and detergents are from our own refills.

Sustainable furniture
The beds are handmade from sustainable local timber using a water-powered sawmill, and have organic, local wool mattresses. All other furniture is either handmade, pre-loved or sustainably produced.

Owl
Organic cotton linen
Get cosy with 100% organic cotton bed linen and towels in all bedrooms, and cosy Welsh wool blankets on each bed, with curtains and cushions being made from vintage woven Welsh wool.
Wood from our sustainably managed woodland
You will find three wood burning stoves inside the Ecolodge, and we supply our own complimentary seasoned logs and kindling from our sustainably managed woodland, with extra available to purchase onsite using an honesty box system.
Art by renowned local artists
Guests will notice the variety of original artworks on the walls of our Ecolodge. These are all created by renowned local artists and each piece is for sale.
Like a gallery space, the art is all one-offs and frequently changed, so it is advised not to wait around if you have your eye on a piece during your stay!
