This two day course is a great opportunity to make yourself a beautiful new log basket as the nights draw in and we enjoy a cosy fire in the evenings. We will be making round willow log baskets with strong convex bases, ‘waled and randed’ sides and  strong rod borders.

You can incorporate finger holes or make roped willow handles. There will be an opportunity to experiment with different weaves in the siding, such as single and double French ‘randing’ and ‘slewing’.

A selection of naturally coloured willow will be available for you to choose from. Previous basketry experience an advantage as there is a lot to achieve making a big basket on a two day course.

Places are limited to eight participants per event and must be booked in advance.

Fee: £195 (includes tuition and hot drinks throughout the day)
All materials and tools will be provided, however there is an additional fee of £35 for the large quantity of materials used to create your basket. Please bring this in cash and pay to the tutor on the day.

“I had forgotten pretty much everything about basket weaving and I took part in this workshop to remind myself so that I can continue at home. I now can continue! The teaching was very good, Jane was observant, informative and careful to ensure reasonably high quality results. Denmark Farm is a top venue with great facilities”. Blue Morgan

“Thank you so much for arranging the basket making course. Jane is an amazing and thoughtful teacher. She gives everyone her undivided attention and responds to what they want to do and their level. It is relaxing just to be with her and I learn so much. A big thank you! It was like a mini-holiday.” Jane Johns
