Woodworking: Build a Shave Horse

Spend a day creating your very own Mike Abbott style shave horse.  This invaluable tool is the foundation of being able to make tables, chairs and all manner of wooden items requiring peeling, shaping and tapering, for all manner of craft items.

This course is for anyone who would like to be able to start their wood working journey by making the tools needed to make items at home or in the workshop.  The course is more than learning to create a shave horse, it about mastering simple carpentry skills such as accurate sawing and use of power drills and drivers, to empower woodwork long after the course is finished.  Above all else, it’s a chance to reconnect with the outdoors and switch off from all of life’s little stresses.

What to bring

All tools and materials will be provided but do bring closed toe footwear, practical and warm clothes, and a packed lunch (tea, coffee, biscuits provided).

• Safe and accurate sawing techniques
• Carpentry marking and measuring
• Drilling and driving using power and hand tools
• Creating a swivel dowel pin
• The joy of using a shave horse and draw knives

Please note – there is an additional fee of £25 for the materials for your shave horse which should be paid in cash on arrival to your tutor.
