It was a glorious sunny day and, once furnished with a pair of Denmark Farm wellies, Jonathon Porritt joined several of our trustees on a walk around the site. He was particularly impressed with the roundhouse and other structures built by volunteers and course participants, and pleased to hear about all our links to communities in the area and our plans to welcome visitors to stay in the new accommodation. As a former director of Friends of the Earth and current director and trustee of the Forum for the Future, Jonathon is ideally placed to appreciate the value of our work in terms of conservation and our links to people, both local and those from further afield.
Everyone enjoyed lunch in the comfy living area of the Eco Lodge, and a special mention must be given to the spinach and ricotta flan – Jonathon’s favourite! Whilst we ate, we discussed plans for a new project that we hope to launch later in the year that will involve more local people and provide a range of training opportunities. This received Jonathon’s backing and he has promised to support us in our bid for funding.
All-in-all a very successful day and we look forward to welcoming Jonathon and all our other supporters back in the future.
