Woodland Bioblitz

Woodland Bioblitz

On Sunday 11th May 2025 we will be holding a woodland focused Bioblitz at Denmark Farm and we’d like as many people to get involved as possible.

You may be asking ‘what is a BioBlitz?’ Well, it’s a day of recording all of the various species of wildlife found.

We are particularly looking for enthusiastic beginners and those with more experience identifying wildlife to come along to record a particular area or shadow the experts.

These are the rough Wildlife Groups that we will aim to record:

  • Birds
  • Invertebrates
  • Moths
  • Flowering Plants
  • Ferns
  • Lichens/Mosses/Liverworts
  • Mammals

The day will run with a range of separate activities where attendees can choose to record in areas of their own interest and expertise.

There will be endless supplies of tea, coffee and cakes throughout the day as well as a simple pizza and salad lunch – cooked in the onsite earth oven.

All our records will be fed into the WWBIC database.  The results from the day will help us to monitor the biodiversity we have here at Denmark Farm and compare with records from previous years. This will help us to continue to manage this special place for the future and increase the biodiversity that lives here at Denmark Farm.

If you’d like to join us or find out more please do get in touch

This project is funded by the The Woodland Investment Grant (TWIG) scheme. It is being delivered by The National Lottery Heritage Fund in partnership with the Welsh Government.
