Date(s) - 27 May 2017
10:00 AM - 4:00 PM
For the first time we are offering a one day introduction to weaving with rush (Bulrush, Scriptus Lacustris).
Learn two different types of weaves: cross weave and spider weave to create small mats. The aim of the day is to enjoy exploring the soft and gentle qualities of the rush whilst making a useful item or two.
The rush you will be using in the workshop is as sustainable as can be. It grows in the river Isle in Ilse Abbot, Somerset. Angela is part of a group from the basket makers association that gather each each year in July to harvest the rush. It is then dried before using.
