A two-day workshop weaving on a rigid heddle loom and learning the techniques to create your own unique, hand woven project.
This fun workshop will introduce you to weaving on the simple rigid heddle or knitter’s loom. The loom is easy to use but the possibilities of experimenting and creating amazing designs are limitless!
To start with we will weave a sampler to get familiar with the loom and to learn some of the techniques for creating pattern and texture. We will then look at how to set up the loom and you will be able to design and weave your own project.
You will come away with a good basic knowledge of how to use and set up a rigid heddle loom, your own handwoven sample, design project and notes to help you continue weaving after the workshop.
All equipment and materials are provided. No previous experience is necessary. The workshop is aimed at beginners or as a refresher for those who have tried weaving before.
Hanne Dahl has been weaving for 10 years and recently completed a two-year weaving master class. She enjoys teaching weaving on simple looms as well as on multi-shaft hand looms. In her role of Collections and Exhibitions Officer at Trowbridge Museum Hanne also curates textile exhibitions and works with textile collections and the history of the weaving.
Fee: £90 (includes tuition, all materials and hot drinks throughout the day)
Places are limited to seven participants per event and must be booked in advance.
