Introducing our new one year project ‘Get Active for Wildlife’.
Please come and join us and find out more about this project and how you can get involved as well as carrying out some practical habitat management and taking a look at some of the wildlife that lives here at Denmark Farm.
One of the aims of the project is to recruit new volunteers so that we can achieve so much more with managing this special nature reserve and increasing its value for biodiversity. Even if you’re not keen on the practical side of things, there’s still plenty to be done with monitoring the wildlife and other less active activities, so there’s something for everyone.
Everyone is welcome, so whether you’re an expert or even if you’re new to it all, we hope you can join us.
We’ll be meeting at 10am in the centre here, a cuppa to start with and an introduction to the project and opportunities for volunteering and free training.
We’ll then spend a couple of hours clearing some of the trails around the reserve and removing the blackthorn encroaching into the meadow and then have lunch and more tea and cake! During the afternoon we’ll spend some time searching for some of the wildlife around the nature reserve.
Our Garden Volunteer Team will also be on site led by expert Malcolm Berry (AKA The Dreaded Gardener). If you are interested in joining this friendly band of volunteers, for a monthly food growing and wildlife gardening session, do come along for a chat.
Please wear suitable outdoor clothing – warm and waterproof and also sturdy boots. All tools and equipment are provided.
Bring lunch with you if you are staying for the day. Tea, coffee and homemade cake will be provided.
We really hope you can make it! It will be lovely to meet you and find out how you’d like to get involved with ‘Get Active for Wildlife’.
We are also planning some free training days as part of the project, which will be advertised soon.
