You will be learning how to:
  • Select the best wood straight from the tree
  • Split and prepare the wood using a small axe
  • Use a straight knife safely and efficiently to create spoons, spatulas and all manner of wooden cooking utensils
  • These two days will allow us to delve deeper into wood selection, tool care ( sharpening) and make more spoons of course!
Also available to purchase will be the tools you use plus Dan’s handmade spoons for sale at a special 15% discount for course participants.

spoons2Tutor: Travelling craftsman Dan Lawrence uses hand tools to create kaleidoscopic sensory bliss.

Dan is an experienced instructor of five years and has been teaching at International Spoonfest for two years now. Dan uses traditional hand tools and locally sourced greenwood to create a range of beautiful and functional wooden-ware (from wooden spoons, bowls and others woodland wonders). He likes to think of his work as ‘small functional sculptures’ inspired by Scandinavian techniques. All his work is skillfully finished with a knife, without use of sandpaper.

There will be maximum 6 participants and places must be booked in advance.
