Raw Chocolate Making

Raw Chocolate Making

This Raw Chocolate making workshop, for adults and children, is part of a series of creative short workshops with Peggy Beer.

This workshop enables you to make the things you love in a natural way, with the knowledge of knowing exactly what ingredients are in the foods.
Homemade Raw Chocolate is also a great Christmas present!

The history of chocolate began in Mesoamerica. The Aztecs believed that cacao seeds were the gift of the god of wisdom and the seeds were once used as a form of currency. The Mayan culture used cacao in ceremonies and religious rituals.

The Workshop

Peggy will start with a short introduction covering the backgrounds of raw chocolate, whilst you enjoy an authentic Spiced Hot Chocolate drink.
Then we will get straight into the raw chocolate making and you will learn how to make your own chocolates with only a few, easy to source, healthy ingredients.
Experiment by adding fruit, nuts and other flavours and turning the chocolates into different shapes with the moulds provided.
Learn how to wrap and package your chocolates and turn them into beautiful presents too.

Please bring your own cutting boards and storage containers to take your chocolate home in.
Peggy will provide all the ingredients, which are wherever possible organic. If you have specific ingredients you would like in your chocolate please bring them.

The recipes will be provided as hand-outs from the tutor, to take home.

Please state any food allergies prior to booking and Peggy will be in touch to advise.

Health benefits

Raw Cacao is an Amazonian Superfood that has over 40 times the antioxidants of blueberries, which absorb free radicals that can otherwise lead to cell and tissue damage and can cause cancer.

Raw Cacao is the highest Plant-Based Source of Iron known and is also full of Magnesium which is important for a healthy heart and brain. It has more Calcium than cow’s milk and is a natural mood elevator and anti-depressant.
