Mounted on a frame and decorated with cones these rag rug wreaths make great presents and delightful, enduring decorations for the home.

Prodding is the technique for pushing pieces of rag through a hessian base to make shaggy rugs. It is also sometimes called pegging or bodging. Hooking is also done on a hessian base and involves pulling up small loops of fabric to make a design, you can almost draw with this technique.
Rag rugging is a wonderful way to recycle old clothes, household textiles, yarns and even sheep fleece.

The techniques are simple, the process is relaxing and thrifty however making a whole rug is a lengthy process.  From this Rag Rug Wreath workshop you will gain all the skills needed to make larger projects in the future.
