Come and join us for a fabulous celebration of Spring and make a giant rag rug flower.
Whilst learning the traditional rag rug making techniques of hooking and prodding you will make a large flower using recycled materials such as T-shirts, velvets, silks, tent material and plastic bags. The finished flower will be mounted on a wire frame and backed and can be hung as a decoration or attached to a stem.
Rag rug making is a wonderful way to recycle old clothes, household textiles, yarns and even sheep fleece. The techniques are simple, the process is relaxing and thrifty however making a whole rug is a lengthy process. From this Rag Rug Flower workshop you will take all the skills needed to make larger rugs in the future.
Sue will provide all the tools and materials you will need but you are welcome to bring your own too. If possible please bring a sharp pair of scissors. Tools, base fabrics and kits will also be available for sale for you to continue some creative projects at home.
This workshop is suitable for all abilities, including beginners.
Places are limited to ten participants per event and must be booked in advance.
