You will then learn the gutting process in a bright and airy classroom – the second bird will be taken home with instructions for you to gut later and reinforce what has been learnt on the day.

Courses will be held in small groups to ensure all participants are supported throughout the whole process and given assistance where needed.

Lewis (2)Tutor: Lewis Wescott of DrChickenCourses.co.uk

Lewis is currently studying Veterinary Medicine after graduating from Aberystwyth University with a BSc in Animal Science and dreams of going on to become an Avian Vet. He has been lucky enough to give talks about chicken keeping at the Edible Garden Show and BBC Gardeners’ World Live as well as running a day course at Highgrove Estate, home of HRH Prince Charles.

“When I first entered into the world of owning chickens Lewis was my first port of call. He is incredibly knowledgeable, helpful, friendly, hospitable and kind. I have now been a chicken keeper for three years and cannot imagine having a garden without a chicken in it. I am extremely grateful for the help and advice he has provided me with. I cannot recommend this course highly enough.”
