Keeping a nature journal is a great way to observe, record and appreciate the natural world around us. It can be a meditative experience and teaches you to become more mindful and contemplative; to reconnect with nature and the outdoors. Drawing gives us time to stand still and be focused.
Forget your worries and get out into the fresh air. It’s a very healthy pastime both physically and mentally.
This first Nature Journal workshop will involve a morning in the classroom learning drawing and painting techniques with different media and demos, to create your journals. The afternoon will be spent outdoors exploring the unique 40 acre Denmark Farm Nature Reserve with a host of natural inspiration.
Depending on interest, the aim is to form a small group who meet regularly for day Nature Journal workshops through the seasons.
Any drawing skill level is welcome just the enthusiasm to get out and record nature is essential.
Tutor: Claire Ward
Claire Ward is a local artist and a member of the Society of Botanical Artists.
