Crossing The Dragonfly Bridge A mandala journey for menopausal women
This creative workshop is for women who have begun their journey through menopause; for those who are reaching/have reached the end of their moon cycles, as well as for those who crossed that threshold a while ago. Menopause is not a swift transition, marked simply by the absence of menstrual blood, it heralds changes on all levels of being, and can be a journey of many years. So I welcome women at any stage of their crossing.
As a rite of passage threshold, this time of huge change in our biological rhythm inevitably updates how we relate to ourselves and the world. Hot flushes and insomnia may accompany shifting perspectives, disorientation and a questioning of identity. Perhaps there is an urge to run for the hills, go wild, cut loose. At the very least, a need to take stock of things, to step back and review.
With this in mind I am offering this workshop, as a place and time to reflect, explore, to nurture and re-connect with your wise and centred self. Because within that centre place, we can mindfully rest within the eye of the storm, enough to gather ourselves and re-orientate.
The sacred art practice of Mandala is precisely that – a chance to practice coming to rest within the centre, while at the same time bringing external elements into a feeling of inter-connected harmony. We do this through the resonance of sacred geometry (the universal language of shapes and symbols), colour, and the power of our intent.
For myself, drawing geometry and painting mandalas has been an invaluable tool through menopause. A place of retreat, to immerse in calm reflection, to pray, play, process, to become a vessel for divine flow. It’s great!
We’ll also share words, songs and guided meditation to inform our practice, plus an invitation to spend time on the land, weather permitting.
This is a stand alone workshop, but may lead to a longer journey of self reflection through sacred art practice, facilitated by Anne.
Suitable for beginners and those with previous experience.
Materials are provided, but do bring your own brushes, pencils, ruler and compass if you prefer.
