Event Type

Create a pole-lathe so that you can make a variety of beautiful and useful turned wooden objects.

Tutor: Tony Eames

An intensive, practical, hands-on, weekend course taking you through the basics of constructing a pole lathe. Tony Eames will guide you using the sensitive response of hand tools and rule of eye. You will be learning a variety of carpentry skills to produce a valued piece of equipment that has been in use for over 3000 years. During the weekend you will be using age old tools such as brace and bits, draw knives, spoke shaves, and hand saws. No experience is necessary and you will leave with a finished pole lathe which can be dismantled to fit in the average car boot. Please wear sturdy foot wear and clothes suitable for outside work for time of year.

Fee: £75 (£65 if you book early*) & £70 for materials. This Course is now fully booked.
