10:00 AM - 4:00 PM
A one day beginner’s crochet workshop to learn how to get to grips with this simple and addictive craft.
Crochet is one of the simplest yarn crafts. Using nothing more than a hook and a ball of wool, you can create anything from a simple blanket to intricate lace. Perhaps the best place to start is with a granny square, so that’s what we’ll be making on this beginners crochet workshop. You’ll learn some basic stitches, learn the difference between British and US terminology, as well as how to read a crochet pattern and there will be plenty of time to practice. Plus you will be able to see examples of items that you can make with your newly acquired skill.
Tutor: Jan Martin
Jan has a doctorate in ecology and has been interested in conservation and sustainability for a long time, as well as being a scientific editor. She has extensive teaching experience and this workshop is a venture into teaching crafts a topic very close to her heart.
Fee: £35 per person (plus £5 for materials; wool and crochet hook, payable to the tutor on the day)
