Join local bird expert, Red Liford, to learn how to undertake a Common Bird Survey, using the British Trust for Ornithology (BTO) Common Bird Census Territory mapping method.
This is a two day training course running on Friday 16th and 30th May. Ideally participants will be able to attend both days. However, if you can only attend one please do let us know.
What we will do:
Friday 16th May morning session
We will walk the site first to familiarise everyone with the map and where they are on it. At the same time we will learn about the songs, calls and behaviour of the bird species encountered.
Friday 16th May afternoon session
Walk the site route and record onto maps the species found
Friday 30th May morning session
Walk the site route and record onto new maps the species found
Friday 30th May afternoon session
Collate the registrations from the two surveys to access the number of species found within their territories.
Please bring with you:
