All About Bats - Free Virtual Talk

‘All About Bats’ by Naomi Davis

Naomi is an Ecologist from Aberystwyth and is involved with the North Ceredigion Local Wildlife Trust Group, Aberystwyth Hedgehog Project and the North Ceredigion Bat Group

Bats in the belfry? Blind as a bat?!! These are not necessarily true! Bats roost in buildings, such as houses, and in trees and caves where the temperature is right for them. They are not blind as they can see but they echolocate to find their way around in the dark.

These amazing mammals of the night are insect eaters and eat many moths and midges every night. The most common bat is our pipistrelle which is so small it can fit into a small matchbox. Naomi will be introducing you to the various bats that are found in Wales, so come and find out more about them, some of which can be found at Denmark Farm. It is great to watch their silhouettes flying against the darkening night sky.

This is a 1 hour talk with an opportunity at the end for Questions and Answers.

Come and find out all about these fascinating creatures by registering your place on volunteer@denmarkfarm.org.uk

We will then confirm your place and a Zoom link will be sent to you the evening before the event.

The Shared Earth Trust at Denmark Farm Conservation Centre runs a 2 year project called Cadw Natur Mewn Cof/Keeping Nature in Mind which is funded by the Landfill Disposals Tax Communities Scheme. This has enabled us to run these various virtual talks on Zoom.

For all other virtual talks please see our Events Calendar.

These talks are FREE but we welcome donations to help us care for all the wildlife at Denmark Farm.  You can make a donation via our LocalGiving platform. Many thanks for your support.
