We have just 7 days remaining for our crowdfunded earth oven campaign and we’ve been overjoyed with the fantastic response from donors who (at of time of writing) have contributed £1,315.00 toward our £1,500.00 target. So, we’re on the home straight toward a photo finish, but in order to keep up the momentum we’re asking all our supporters to keep sharing the links to the campaign and keep telling their friends. So please, spread the word. Let’s bring community cob cooking to Denmark Farm!
Our Ultimate Wish List
Once we hit our original target of £1,500 we’ll have the timber framed shelter and stone plinth paid for. But, why stop there? If we keep receiving donation for the campaign then we’re going to take our community cooking area to the next level. Here’s how:
£1,600 – means we can get 2 peels (bread paddles), an oven brush, bucket and other cooking equipment.
£1,750 – means we can add a barbeque cooking area.
£2,150 – will enable us to build new seating and a picnic table where visitors can enjoy their freshly cooked food in comfort.
£2,500 – if we’re lucky enough to get this far then we’ll do some beautiful landscaping around the new cooking area, including planting up and further seating.
Local Food Producers Step Up to Help
One of the aims of this campaign is to build a resource where local people and visitors and enjoy and celebrate good, local food using the freshest ingredients. Several local food producers have rallied to our cause and pledged donations of their tasty products which we’ll make good use of at our public events and community cooking days.
Local meat producers From The Hedgerose will be supplying a selection of their finest free range, rare breed and gluten free pork sausages and bacon as toppings for our lovely pizzas. Sarah Rose from The Hedgerose told us; “We pride ourselves on our ethos of sustainable free range farming, rare breed conservation, high animal welfare and quality local food, so we are very pleased to be supporting the Community Cob Oven Campaign at Denmark Farm. This new project aims to bring people together to enjoy and understand our fantastic range of locally produced food here in Wales, re-awaken people’s connection with real food, and its importance to the future of food production, the environment and our society. This is a fantastic project that everyone can be a part of and gain from.”
Rachel Allen of local, organic producer Hafod Cheese gave us the good news that they are also contributing to our campaign; “We would be happy to donate £50 worth of Hafod cooking cheese for the Denmark Farm pizza project. We wish you good luck with your final week of fund-raising.”
Last but not least, Calon Wen, a Wales-wide farming co-operative of organic producers, have given their support; “We’ll supply at least £50 worth of our organic cheese. We are supporting this campaign because care of the land is at the heart of everything we do at Calon Wen. Any organisation that can help share that message with members of the public is a worthy cause.”
