Looking for a school holiday activity which won’t cost the earth? Join us on Saturday 18th August from 2-4 pm for a fun afternoon of pond dipping, and help to gather data for Pond Conservation’s national survey. See how many creatures we can find that skate, crawl, wiggle and dive, from the beautiful emerging dragonflies to the lovely leeches.
Recent sightings have included emperor, common, darter and four-spotted chaser dragonflies, plus 3 species of damselflies (emerald, common blue and large red). Discover more about these and other species on the Dragonfly Society website, which also provides information on how to get involved in projects and surveys.
The ‘Big Pond Dip’ is suitable for all ages – bring your wellies. Free event (coffee, tea and biscuits £1 per person). Bookings preferred, but not essential.
If you want to learn more about the amazing diversity in our aquatic habitats we also have a Pond and Stream Invertebrates course from 28-30 September.
