This new course will look at photographing a variety of invertebrates in both their natural habitats and back in the laboratory or studio. We will explore macro environments and look at how a habitat can be seen on a tiered basis depending on our level of optical magnification. We will look at the both the limitations of the technology available as well what macro photography can reveal about the world; and examine new cutting edge tools and research in this area. Whist not essential (we will cover some basic photographic skills as part of the introduction) it is recommended that students have some previous general photographic knowledge and experience or have been on the ‘Introduction to Outdoor Digital Photography’ course. It is also necessary for students to have access to a digital camera (either a ‘DSLR’, ‘Compact System Camera’ or a ‘high end compact’). It is advisable to bring outdoor clothing and shoes suitable for walking in.

For further information on the course content, equipment required, or any questions relating to the course then please don’t hesitate to contact:
